Mexican sunflower or Tithonia is a fabulous annual pollinator plant with late summer into autumn orange flowers. This year my plant grew really tall so I am saving the seeds to plant next spring. Also check out my YouTube video about these fantastic flowers

Northview Garden in November is still putting on a

Northview Garden in November is still putting on a show. Lots of pink flowers still blooming. The pink dahlias and my new pink door make me particularly happy so you get two clips of that. Also asters, hardy chrysanthemums, spider flower, flowering tobacco, salvias including red pineapple sage, marigolds and finally some lovely deciduous leaves. Clocks change tonight. I am making the most of every scrap of sunshine.

Hardy single-flowered chrysanthemums are great pollinator plants for autumn. Their open, honey-scented flowers attract a wide range of insects from bees of all sizes to butterflies, moths, wasps, beetles, and flies. Move lung plants in the spring and buy them then too. Trim them back by pinching out or sheering the top growth until the beginning of July. Insert half hoops of flexible branches or strong twigs around the growing plant to support them. They make a great cut flower too.

The Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, Nebraska. A small but mighty garden that is packed full of colorful annuals and people enjoying themselves. The way that the garden was constructed in the 1930’s produces a wonderful enclosed space even though the road is nearby. The waterfall and pond add to the calm, secluded feeling.

Northern Plains Botanical Garden - packed with fun, flowers, and whimsy. So many pollinators- butterflies, dragonflies, and hummingbirds. Great fun for children and adults including a fairy garden, annual flower display by first letter of the alphabet, tunnel and balancing logs, a hobbit house, and an extensive edible forest.
