These fleeting orange and black beauties are on their migration route south to Mexico. I am worried that I have seen fewer butterflies in general this year and very few Monarch butterflies. I will never forget being in Erie, PA, on the shore of Lake Erie as clouds of Monarch butterflies floated dreamily across the water from Canada. An unforgettable sight. As gardeners we can plant more host plants for the caterpillars and also nectar plants to feed the adult butterflies. I also want to find out if there are other ways that we can help to save their over-wintering grounds in Mexico. Any suggestions?
